Maryland singer/songwriter MyKey crafts mellow, dreamy pop built from floating melodies, self-produced instrumentals, and an easygoing take on everyday existence. Following the independent release of his first album in 2017, he joined Warner Records and refined his bedroom-pop approach with the 2021 mixtape Welcome to the Witching Hour.

Born Mikey Ambrosino in 1997, MyKey first appeared on the scene as a guitarist and vocalist in the Gaithersburg, Maryland bluegrass group Flower Hill String Band. Although that traditional ensemble stood worlds apart from the laid-back pop he would later create alone, he devoted ten years to performing with the band while developing original material. In 2017 he issued his debut solo album Faces, which mixed Americana and alternative-radio rock with early traces of the electronic-organic fusion that would define later work. The 2019 singles “VHS” and “Was It Something I Said” signaled a clear turn toward loops, warped guitar samples, and airy hooks. MyKey released the track “Please Don’t Go” in 2020 and paired it with a Cavetown remix of “Was It Something I Said.” The next year he offered “Sweet Tooth” as a standalone single; the song also appeared on the concise mixtape Welcome to the Witching Hour, a nine-track collection of his self-produced recordings.
