Biography
Nacha Pop, a Spanish pop/rock ensemble, came together in 1978 when ex-Helicopeter Uhu singer/guitarist Nacho Garcia teamed up with bassist Carlos Pascow; Garcia's cousin, singer/songwriter Antonio Vega, joined the lineup shortly thereafter. During that initial year, the group captured a demo that included the tracks "Chica de Ayer" and "Sol del Caribe," leading to a contract with Hispavox in 1980 and the subsequent release of their debut album, produced by Teddy Bautista. The band's next efforts, Buena Disposicion along with Mas Numeros, Otras Letras, established Nacha Pop among the leading acts in the regional rock community. Following the issuance of the EP Una Decima de Segundo and the 1987 album El Momento under the production of Carlos Narea, the members chose to stage their final performances on October 19 and 20, 1988, which resulted in the live album Nacha Pop 1980-1988. The track "Lucha de Gigantes" by Nacha Pop appeared in the 2001 film Amores Perros from director Alejandro Gonzalez.
