Biography
Formed in Sweden during 1973, the progressive rock outfit Neon Rose came together thanks to vocalist Roger Holegard and guitarist Gunnar Hallin. The lineup expanded with the addition of guitarist Piero Mengarelli, bassist and vocalist Beno Mengarelli, along with drummer Thomas Wilkund. In 1974, the group secured a deal with Vertigo Records. Drawing influence from Iron Butterfly, Emerson, Lake And Palmer, and Deep Purple, this experimental five-piece delivered extended, esoteric performances often rooted in blues. Their initial release, A Dream Of Glory And Pride, arrived in 1974 and demonstrated strong instrumental skills while exposing weaknesses in vocals. Although two more albums followed, the songwriting quality dropped markedly. By 1976, the band had vanished from the music scene.
