New Medicine

Established in 2009, New Medicine channel contemporary hard rock from the Minneapolis portion of Minnesota’s Twin Cities. The four-piece lineup—singer/guitarist Jake Scherer, bassist Matt Brady, guitarist Dan Garland, and drummer Ryan Guanzon—fuses hard-rock propulsion with post-grunge feeling, resulting in a polished yet rowdy sound that balances cocky bravado against brooding melancholy. Their first release, the 2011 album Race You to the Bottom, secured a Billboard 200 placement. Personnel shifts arrived in 2013 when Dylan Wood took over on drums for Guanzon and Kyle Leblanc assumed bass duties from Brady; at the same time the group relocated to Nashville, where Scherer began writing material for acts such as the Charm City Devils. Twelve months afterward they issued Breaking the Model on Imagen Records.
