Night Flowers, an indie pop quintet, weave dreamy guitar textures with dulcet boy/girl harmonies into a wistful, romantic atmosphere. Although London serves as their current base, the group draws from Northern English origins and features an American vocalist; a consistent output of singles and EPs throughout the mid-2010s earned them critical praise across the U.K. and Japan. Their 2018 debut album, Wild Notion, expanded their reach, and the momentum carried into the 2019 release Fortune Teller.

The founding members, all originally from Humberside, included vocalist Hetty Ullyart, singer/guitarist Greg Ullyart, guitarist/singer Chris Hardy, bassist Sam Lenthall, and drummer Zebedee Budworth. After settling in London and issuing their self-titled EP in 2014, Boston native Sophia Pettit assumed lead vocal duties in place of Hetty Ullyart. With this Transatlantic configuration in place, the band gained traction through tours supporting kindred indie pop acts such as the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Japanese Breakfast, alongside releases like the singles “Glow in the Dark” and “Chaser.” A subsequent Japanese tour and the 2016 Sleep EP on the local Rimeout Recordings label set the stage for Wild Notion, which appeared on the U.K. indie Dirty Bingo Records and garnered strong responses from listeners and reviewers alike, markedly broadening the group’s profile. They sustained this evolution of wistful guitar pop on the follow-up Fortune Teller.
