Hailing from San Diego, California, Noise Ratchet stakes out its distinct position within alternative rock by delivering tense and silvery themes of inflammable punk-style compositions. The ensemble formed in April 1999 around Joe Hosler on bass and vocals, Roger Molina on guitar, and Brandon Young on drums. Drawing from Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jets to Brazil, the Californians merged rock’s most raving elements with emo’s melodic assets to produce a singular sound. After devoting a full year to rehearsals, the musicians began appearing at clubs throughout the local circuit. In the months that followed they issued two EPs, Never Going Back and Why We Cry, both of which registered strong results inside and outside state lines. Once they completed three major tours of the Midwest and West Coast, Noise Ratchet entered the studio to record its debut full-length album, 2002’s Till We Have Faces. A self-titled EP appeared in June 2003, though the band dissolved the next year, prompting several members to launch the Americana outfit Delta Spirit.
