Biography
Originally formed in Chico, California, Number One Gun began shaping their energetic brand of Christian-minded rock during 2001. The lineup featured frontman Jeff Schneeweis alongside bassist Trevor Sellers, guitarist Ben Tietz, and drummer Jordan Mallory. Their debut EP, Forever, arrived in 2002. A chance encounter with Dave Tosti—an A&R representative for Salvage and member of PAX217, a band the group had previously supported—led to a recording contract with the independent label. Sessions with producer Bob Burch commenced in January 2003, while Floodgate Records handled subsequent marketing and distribution duties. Celebrate Mistakes appeared at summer’s end.
Early in 2005 the act inked a deal with Tooth and Nail, issuing Promises for the Imperfect that July. One year later the members parted ways, yet Schneeweis elected to keep the Number One Gun name alive for his solo work. The North Pole Project surfaced in 2008, revealing an emphasis on Christian themes and melodic textures. Two years afterward, To The Secrets And Knowledge emerged, showcasing lush production values and material drawn from the experiences of his then-two-year-old daughter.
