Biography
The Wedding formed in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as an emo-inflected Christian punk outfit while its members were still attending high school. The initial roster featured Kevin Kiehn handling vocals and keyboards, Trevor Sarver on guitar, Cody Driggers on bass, and Clint Robinson on drums after several temporary percussionists had cycled through. Performing at first under the moniker Easier Said, the group spent roughly two years on the road within the alternative CCM and Christian punk scenes before inking a deal with Rambler Records, the rock-focused subsidiary of BHT Entertainment. After issuing a self-released demo EP that fans purchased at shows and via the band’s MySpace page, the musicians—now operating as the Wedding—tracked their first full-length album in late 2004 under the guidance of producer Mark Lee Townsend, known for his work with Relient K. The self-titled debut appeared in spring 2005 and yielded Christian-radio successes such as “Move This City” and “Song for the Broken.” Later that year the five-track EP Rumble in the South arrived, yet subsequent lineup flux postponed work on the follow-up album. Robinson exited in 2006 and was succeeded by Joe “Rattlesnake” Rickard, previously of Sky Harbor, while high-school acquaintance Jeremy Ervin returned on bass, shifting Driggers to second guitar. The resulting album Polarity reached stores in spring 2007 after the advance single “Say Your Prayers.”
