Biography
The alt-rock outfit from Seattle known as the Myriad crafts an intense, meticulously formed sound drawing influence from Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay, and Catherine Wheel. National recognition came with their 2005 debut release You Can't Trust a Ladder, though a major surge arrived via victory in a 2007 MTV contest. Heavy airplay for the single "A Clean Shot" generated additional excitement prior to the May 2008 arrival of With Arrows, with Poise. A hiatus stretching for years commenced after their drummer's death in 2010 and concluded during 2023 upon the streaming re-release of their initial three EPs.
Formed in 2001 by college attendees Jeremy Edwardson handling vocals and guitar alongside John Roger Schofield on bass, the project sought equal creative contributions from every participant. Scott Davis on drums, Jonathan Young on guitar, and Steven Tracy covering guitar and keyboards joined the pair to develop songs collectively. Their series of EPs showcased varied and energetic compositions, beginning with Until We Meet Again in 2002, followed by Which of You the next year and The Myriad in 2004. Floodgate Records added them to their lineup in 2005, issuing the debut full-length You Can't Trust a Ladder. Randy Miller took over drumming duties from Davis amid a personnel shift, and the group claimed top honors in MTV's Dew Circuit Breakout event in December 2007. Rotation began for the "A Clear Shot" video on the channel during January 2008, preceding the sophomore effort With Arrows, with Poise on Koch Records that May. Randy Miller received a cancer diagnosis shortly after the album's launch and died in 2010.
