Biography
Formed in Orlando, FL, during the first months of 2005, the emo rock quintet Between the Trees assembled while most of its members were still attending high school. The group originated with vocalist and guitarist Ryan Kirkland alongside brothers Josh Butler on drums and Jeremy Butler on bass. Lacking prior experience, the three performed together briefly before keyboardist Wes Anderson joined them in spring 2005. Soon afterward the lineup expanded again when Brad Kriebel, previously active in several hardcore groups, was brought in as second guitarist. Their first full-length release, The Story and the Song, surfaced on Bonded Records in September 2006. The next summer the band obtained slots on the Warped Tour.
