Nviiri The Storyteller

In the closing years of the 2010s, Kenyan singer and guitar player Nviiri Sande, who records as Nviiri the Storyteller, gained notice through his place on the Sol Generation roster—the label launched by Kenyan Afropop stars Sauti Sol. Public recognition first arrived in 2018 when he helped write the hit single “Melanin,” later included on Sauti Sol’s 2019 album Afrikan Sauce. A contract with Sol Generation followed soon after, along with the solo breakthrough “Pombe Sigara” and several joint releases alongside Sol members. “Overdose” and “Fore” appeared as further singles that same year, while “Kessi Baadae” and “Lesotho (featuring Ray Gee)” surfaced in 2020.
