Once Human

Once Human emerged in Los Angeles in 2014 as a melodic death, djent, and groove metal outfit whose roster includes vocalist Lauren Hart, guitarists Logan Mader, Skyler Howren, and Max Karon, bassist Damien Rainaud, and drummer Dillon Trollope. Swift percussion, melodic guitar lines, and Hart’s intense growled delivery shape the group’s sound. Logan Mader, a former guitarist in Soulfly and Machine Head who has also produced albums for Gojira and DevilDriver, first crossed paths with Hart; the pair began composing material and soon assembled the remaining members. Their debut album, The Life I Remember, appeared in 2015, followed by touring alongside the influential industrial metal band Fear Factory. The 2017 follow-up, Evolution, reached number 15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. In 2021 the band issued the fiery single “Deadlock,” which included a guest vocal from Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn and later surfaced on their third album, Scar Weaver, released the next year.
