Biography
Opgezwolle formed as a Dutch rap trio consisting of DJ Dippy Delic, MC Sticky Steez, and MC Freaky Rico. The group launched its career after claiming victory in the 2001 Oogst van Overjissel talent contest. That same year saw the release of the trio’s debut album, Spuugdingen, also known as Spittings In The Mic. Following a nationwide tour across the Netherlands in 2002, the act drew interest from the label Topnotch and secured a recording contract. In 2003 Opgezwolle issued the double-CD project Vloeistof/Brandstof, pairing a standard pressed disc containing the music of Vloeistof with a blank CD-R titled Brandstof that listeners could fill with tracks downloaded from the band’s website. The third album, Eigen Wereld, arrived in 2006, reached the Dutch top five, and earned widespread critical praise. The trio further built its reputation through numerous appearances on compilations and an array of collaborative projects.
