Biography
O'Spada originated in Stockholm, Sweden, during 2006 as a showcase primarily for vocalist Julie Spada, who performs under the alias O'Julie. The ensemble drew its polished aesthetic from 1980s dance-pop outfits such as Nu Shooz and Prince while evoking the style of then-contemporary groups including Junior Senior and Alphabeat. Keyboardist O'Chris, guitarist O'Karl, bassist O'Johan, and drummer O'Samuel completed the initial roster. After two years spent performing throughout Sweden and laying down demo recordings, the act secured a contract with Despotz Records in 2008. The ensuing year brought notable press coverage from outlets including Fader, BBC Radio 1, and The Guardian upon the issuance of the label's first two O'Spada singles, "Ten Strikes" and "Time." Plans called for the band's debut full-length to appear in 2010.
