Emerging from the Bronx in 2005, Pacha Massive fuse Cuban son, reggae, dancehall, dub, hip-hop, house, Colombian cumbia, and drum'n'bass rhythms into their Latin alternative style. Keyboardist, guitarist, producer, and songwriter DJ Nova, born in the Dominican Republic, and bassist and songwriter Maya, born in Colombia, form the duo at the center of the group. They first connected in New York during work on a project alongside Iván Benavides. Live performances expand the ensemble with five to twelve additional musicians. The name Pacha Massive derives from pachamama, or Mother Earth. Their inaugural show took place in 2004 at Madison Square Garden, where they opened for Aterciopelados, and they have since shared bills with Ozomatli, Sidestepper, and Yerba Buena. In 2005 the band won the battle of the bands at the Latin Alternative Music Conference. Nacional Records signed them in 2007 and issued the debut album All Good Things that same year. The song "Don't Let Go" appeared on the soundtrack of La Mujer de Mi Hermano.
