Biography
The Brooklyn duo Party Supplies displayed their range by shaping rap productions for Action Bronson while weaving glittery neo-disco textures through their independent material. Mutual enthusiasm for pop’s experimental side, voiced by Brian Eno and Frank Zappa, and its glossy 1980s counterpart, embodied by Peter Gabriel and Tina Turner, sparked their partnership. Producer Justin Nealis had already circulated R&B remixes and hip-hop tracks online under the Party Supplies name. In 2012 multi-instrumentalist Sean Mahon joined the sessions for Action Bronson’s Blue Chips, at which point the duo was formally established. Their first release appeared that year and drew wider attention alongside Danny Brown’s hit single “Grown Up.” They rejoined Bronson the next year for Blue Chips 2. Fool’s Gold released the duo’s debut album Tough Love later in 2013, introducing the single “Going Back to New York.”
