Biography
Blending introspective balladry with buoyant, groove-laden pop, singer-songwriter Patrick Dorgan first entered Denmark’s upper chart tier via his debut single “On the Way Down,” which climbed to number 11 in 2014. That same year the track’s streaming performance placed it even higher on several platform-specific rankings, and the following year Dorgan received a GAFFA Award nomination for New Danish Name of the Year.
His upbringing in the Valby district of Copenhagen shaped those eclectic tastes; an Irish mother and Danish father kept classic rock and soul spinning at home. At twelve he formed a band with schoolmates, and the next year the group performed a Kim Larsen number at a local school event—an experience Dorgan later cited as the spark that ignited his passion for the stage. Although he later enrolled in a formal music program at college, he departed before finishing the degree, choosing instead to refine his songwriting and assemble a backing band for club dates around the city.
Industry attention followed swiftly, producing a management agreement and then a recording contract with Copenhagen Records. The 2014 single appeared on his first full-length album, Painkillers, issued in late 2015; the LP itself reached number 29 on the Danish albums chart in 2016. Three years later he delivered the concise 03:17 EP, a four-track release.
