Biography
Petbrick first captured widespread attention in 2018 with a self-titled EP and then delivered their complete debut album, I, the following year, both built around a ferocious blend of pounding percussion and biting distortion.
The duo originated early that year when Sepultura founder Igor Cavalera encountered Big Lad’s Wayne Adams at one of Adams’s gigs, an unplanned meeting that quickly sparked a collaboration. Adams soon welcomed Cavalera to his London studios, where the pair merged Cavalera’s intense drumming approach with Adams’s noise and breakcore production methods to shape the Petbrick project. Several tracks from these sessions were compiled for the independently issued 2018 EP.
Encouraged by its reception, the musicians continued writing, and demo recordings reached Rocket Recordings’ Chris Reeder and John O’Carroll, who immediately added the band to their roster. The duo then completed the remaining work needed for their first full-length album.
Ahead of I’s October 2019 release, Petbrick played support dates alongside Uniform, Teeth of the Sea, and the Body while enlisting guest contributions from Dylan Walker, Mutado Pintado, and Laima Leyton, Igor Cavalera’s wife and Soulwax collaborator. The year closed with the group’s first headline tour across the U.K. and Europe.
