Biography
Pfarrer Franz Brei serves as an Austrian vocalist, ordained Roman Catholic priest, and widely followed performer of religious and folk material. Born during 1968 in Bludenz, Vorarlberg, Austria, he completed studies at a theological seminary and was ordained into the priesthood in 2000. The year 2009 saw him enter and claim victory in the Austria team trials for the annual Grand Prix of Volksmusik. His final standing in the contest reached third place. That participation raised his public profile, prompting the release of the album Himmlische Klänge (Heavenly Music) later in 2009. While continuing his priestly obligations with the Archdiocese of Vaduz in Styria, he maintains a steady schedule of recordings and live appearances. Further albums followed, among them 2010’s Glaube, Hoffnung und Liebe (Faith, Hope and Love), 2011’s So Feiern Wir Weihnachten (We Celebrate Christmas), 2012’s Was Ich Dir Sagen Will (What I Like to Say to You), and 2015’s Jedes Ende ist ein neuer Anfang (Every End Is a New Beginning).
