Matt Edwards operates under the Radio Slave moniker, alongside various other aliases, and stands as a central presence in dance music circles through his spellbinding productions and reworks, exploratory turntable excursions, and the esteemed REKIDS imprint. What began as a pop-oriented remix endeavor around 2000 evolved into original output by 2006, yielding dancefloor successes via extended, minimal cuts such as "Bell Clap Dance" and "Grindhouse." Several DJ mixes followed, among them Fabric 48 in 2009, while Works: Selected Remixes 2006-2010 gathered standout official versions created for fellow artists. Although club-focused 12"s have remained his core emphasis, Edwards has broadened his palette beyond minimal and tech-house into melodic, rave-tinged house, while also venturing into ambient and Detroit techno territories on the more atmospheric full-lengths Feel the Same in 2017 and Radio Silence Part One in 2020. During the current decade his output has encompassed tougher techno via the SRVD partnership, joint efforts with DJ Hell and Dustin Zahn, plus the 2023 compilation mix Actualize Part 1.

Hailing from London, Edwards took up DJ duties in the early 1990s, first at Milk Bar and the Aberystwyth football club before securing an early residency at Ministry of Sound. Initial studio work encompassed several house releases issued as Dogtrax throughout the mid-1990s. He inaugurated Radio Slave in 2000 as a remix vehicle alongside producer and DJ Serge Santiágo, who departed two years later. Recognition arrived via reworkings for Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Fischerspooner, and additional acts, together with unauthorized edits circulated on his Rekid label. REKIDS launched in 2006, coinciding with the arrival of original material that opened with glitchy, buzzing tech-house numbers like "My Bleep" and "Secret Base." That same year saw his first mix CD, Creature of the Night, appear on Eskimo Recordings. Extended, stripped-back selections such as "Bell Clap Dance" and "Grindhouse," drawn from successive installments of the No Sleep 12" series, gained traction in clubs and led to releases on Running Back, R&S, and OM Records. Alongside Joel Martin, Edwards pursued the Balearic downtempo disco outlet Quiet Village, whose debut album Silent Movie arrived to widespread praise in 2008. Japan received the No Sleep at All CD compilation of the No Sleep series in 2009, the same year Fabric 48 surfaced.

Radio Slave Presents Strictly Rhythms, Vol. 5, a double-CD set surveying the Strictly Rhythm back catalog, emerged in 2010. The following year brought the triple-CD Works: Selected Remixes 2006-2010, which collected reworkings for UNKLE, DJ Hell, Slam, and numerous others. Balance 023, issued in 2013, paired a house disc with an experimental downtempo disc incorporating jazz, modern classical, and hip-hop selections. The 2014 single "Children of the E," released via Running Back, delivered a breakbeat-driven nod to rave, while subsequent cuts including "The Clone Wars" and "I Need Music" functioned as extended, no-frills club tools.

Feel the Same, Radio Slave's first proper album, surfaced in 2017 and featured some of his most exploratory, atmospheric material. Edwards joined Patrick Mason to form SRVD, debuting with the 2018 EP Elevate and concentrating on harder techno. Further abstract, Detroit-leaning explorations arrived via the 2019 single "Ground Control" and the 2020 album Radio Silence Part One, complemented by buoyant, rave-flavored singles such as "Stay Out All Night," "Live My Life," and "Acid Dip." 2022 yielded collaborations with DJ Hell, Dustin Zahn, and NEZ, as well as the house single "Don't You Know," before Radio Slave Presents Actualize Part 1 appeared in 2023.
