Biography
Since the mid-'90s Shinedoe has ranked among the Netherlands' foremost techno DJs while steadily building a catalog of deeply hypnotic, exploratory tech-house productions. Her own recorded work began appearing in 2004, the year she and Dylan Hermelijn, better known as 2000 & One, launched the Intacto Records imprint. Across subsequent releases the sound progressed from the polyrhythmic minimal techno documented on the 2006 album Sound Travelling to the broader, occasionally jazzy grooves that define 2014's Illogical Directions.
Chinedum Nwosu first took up dancing at fifteen and, four years later, discovered Detroit techno, Chicago house, and New York garage, prompting her to begin amassing and playing records. Club engagements in Amsterdam commenced in 1995 and quickly established her as a fixture on the Dutch scene, generating further dates across Europe and Asia. After devoting several years from 1997 onward to drum'n'bass, she refocused on techno around 2000, inaugurated the Inmotion party series in Amsterdam the following year, and appeared at domestic festivals including Awakenings and Impulz.
Her debut release under the Shinedoe name, the 2004 single "Dillema" on 100% Pure, drew immediate endorsements from Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos and paved the way for numerous subsequent 12-inches on Intacto, Trapez, and Area Remote. Sound Travelling arrived on 100% Pure in 2006; Fuse Presents Shinedoe, her first mix CD, followed on Music Man in 2007. Remixes for Terre Thaemlitz and Booka Shade preceded the 2009 Intacto album No Boundaries.
After additional singles and EPs on her own label, plus the Transcendental EP issued by Get Physical Music in 2012 and two tracks for BPitch Control in 2013, Shinedoe delivered her third album, Illogical Directions, in 2014. More lush, melodic, and experimental than earlier material, the record featured guest vocals from Karin Dreijer of the Knife and Fever Ray alongside Miss Bunty. Later EPs include the 2018 collaboration Acidploitation with 2000 & One and Mutant Frequencies, the inaugural release on her Music That Moves imprint.
