Biography
Formed in Olympia, Washington, in 2011, the duo Ragana emerged as a fiercely D.I.Y. anarcho-feminist black metal/doom metal/post-rock outfit later based in Oakland, California. Multi-instrumentalists Maria and Nicole, who interchange vocals, guitar, and drums, drew inspiration from "Pacific Northwest forests, early Cat Power, and the total destruction of capitalism," issuing their debut full-length All's Lost in 2012, a heavily atmospheric set, followed by Unbecoming (2013), Wash Away (2015), and You Take Nothing (2017).
