Raymix originated as an electro-cumbia venture launched by Edmundo Gómez Moreno, a multifaceted figure who has worked as a DJ, entrepreneur, producer, singer, and songwriter while previously training as an aerospace engineer at NASA. Exposure to the agency shaped the project’s signature approach, fusing multiple Latin traditions with cutting-edge electronic production to establish a distinctive identity that extends from sound to visual presentation.

Moreno arrived in September 2015 via the breakout single “Oye Mujer,” which blended classic cumbia with Latin pop, reggaeton, and an array of Mexican, Puerto Rican, urban, and Arabic influences; he labeled the track “Latin Stylish Music.” Its accompanying clip, featuring only Moreno on vocals, dance, and every instrument, accumulated more than 250 million views within weeks of launch. The song climbed into the Top 20 of the Hot Latin Songs chart and earned Moreno the moniker “King of Electro Cumbia.” Onstage, his ensemble ranges from six to ten performers anchored by a nucleus of dancers and musicians.

Three additional singles released the next year—“Angel Movado,” “Primer Beso,” and “Dime Amor”—generated further videos that each surpassed hundreds of millions of views, registered on streaming and download platforms, and lifted his YouTube channel past half a billion total plays. The electro remix edition of “Dime Amor,” which included TwinRush and Alpha Force, alone secured 28 million views. Raymix’s 2017 advance single “Perdoname” emphasized a harder-driving cumbia pulse and registered on Latin charts across various streaming outlets. The self-titled debut album Oye Mujer followed that July and has sustained sales while Moreno’s live work and the wider rise of electro cumbia have heightened his visibility. He returned in 2019 with the second album Fake Lover.
