Los Angeles de Charly, a twelve-member traditional Mexican ensemble, took shape in 1999 once Charly Becies exited Los Angeles Azules, his earlier band, and formed a new group. Memo Palafox and Jonathan Martínez came aboard to help craft the outfit’s first album, La Magia del Amor. Blending Colombian Cumbia with Mexican norteño over romantic themes, the musicians issued a ten-track follow-up, Un Sueño, in November 2000 that spotlighted the hit single “Toda.” Billboard’s Top Latin album Te Voy A Enamorar appeared the next year.
