Biography
El Trono de Mexico emerged in 2004 as a duranguense ensemble based in Santo Tomás de los Plátanos within Mexico’s state of Mexico. The lineup features Everardo Ávila Marcelino handling lead vocals and musical direction, Carlos Enrique Martínez Cruz on drums, Luis Alberto López Terán managing percussion and tambura, Duani Ávila Marcelino on vocals and keyboards, Yovany Bautista Morales, and Odilón Ávila Marcelino. Their earliest recordings appeared on the independent Skalona Records imprint, beginning with Soy Dos Veces Mexicano in 2004, followed by El Pesudo in 2005, El Muchacho Alegre in 2006, and Fuego Nuevo in 2007. The final pair yielded the breakout tracks “No Te Apartes de Mí,” “Ganas de Volver Amar,” and “Se Fue.”
Universal Latino subsequently acquired licensing rights to the earlier catalog, re-releasing El Muchacho Alegre and Fuego Nuevo during 2007 while issuing the compilation Las Famosas del Trono: Grandes Éxitos in 2008. The group had already moved to DBC Entertainment for Cruzando Fronteras that same year, then signed with Fonovisia in 2009, resulting in the album Hasta Mi Final later that year.
Activity remained high in 2010, when Quiero Decirte Que Te Amo appeared alongside two retrospective sets timed for an extensive North American tour and the concert recording En Vivo Desde Nueva York. In March 2011 the charting release Sigo Estando Contigo followed without pause. Although A Corazón Abierto in 2012 failed to register on charts, Irremplazable in 2013 succeeded. Marking their tenth anniversary in 2014, the title track “Que Bonita Es La Vida” served as an advance single that climbed the Latin airplay and Latin songs charts; “Perdóname” arrived as the next single upon the album’s July release. The remaining tracks, supported by polished production, positioned the project among the band’s strongest commercial and critical achievements.
