Regulo Caro has built a reputation as both a prolific songwriter and an influential performer within Mexican Regional music. Numerous fellow acts have interpreted his material, among them Gerardo Ortiz, Julión Alvarez, Los Bohemios de Sinaloa, Los Nuevos Rebeldes, Banda MS, Raúl Hernández, Los Buitres, and Alfredito Olivas. His first album, 2010’s Música, Pólvora y Sangre, introduced many of those compositions to the wider regional audience. Two years afterward he issued Amor en Tiempos de Guerra, a Latin Grammy-nominated project. With the 2014 release Senzu Rah, Caro helped shape the alternative corridos style. Following extensive touring throughout Mexico and the United States, he delivered En Estos Dias in 2016; propelled by its singles and videos, the album reached number four on the Mexican Regional Albums chart. Although his urban perspective stirred debate, it also drew fellow musicians and new listeners on both sides of the border. Beyond his regular discography, Caro has released several installments of Mi Guitarra y Yo. He distinguishes himself from many contemporaries through his ability to craft sophisticated, emotionally charged love songs that have attracted traditionally oriented listeners alongside his core fan base. The fourth volume appeared the same year as the conceptual album The Real Emilio Garra.

Born in 1981 on a ranch in Cajeme, Caro grew up in a household and extended family where music was constant. Norteño and banda styles captivated him from an early age; an uncle provided his first guitar instruction, which he supplemented by playing along with recordings. He started his initial band at age 13 and, by 16, was performing at business conventions, family celebrations, and local events. He paused his musical pursuits to earn a degree in business administration, worked briefly after graduation, and was persuaded by his grandfather to return to music full-time.

His first major opportunity arrived when his cousin, vocalist Gerardo Ortiz, cut a pair of his songs and introduced him to Del Records, which offered both a recording contract and a publishing agreement. The debut, Música Polvora y Sangre, surfaced in 2011 and earned strong reviews together with solid chart placement. Caro’s unconventional songwriting supplied norteño and banda tracks with memorable hooks and distinctive tuba lines. His 2012 follow-up, Amor en Tiempos de Guerra, achieved broad radio exposure and chart success while securing a Latin Grammy nomination. Especialista, his third album, arrived in August 2013 and entered the Top 40 of the Top Latin Albums chart. Senzu Rah, released the following year, climbed to number two and appeared on the Top 100 pop albums chart; it later received gold certification and another Latin Grammy nomination. Del Records issued two compilations of romantic material, Mi Guitarra y Yo, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, sustaining momentum during Caro’s touring schedule.

In February 2016 he unveiled the single “Cicatriiices,” which registered inside the Top Ten of both the Hot Latin Songs and digital charts. En Estos Dias followed that fall, debuting at number four on the Hot Latin Albums chart and number two on the Mexican Regional Albums chart. Mi Guitarra y Yo, Vol. 3 surfaced in 2018, with a fourth volume arriving in 2019 alongside the concept project that introduced Caro’s intricate alter-ego, The Real Emilio Garra, available solely through streaming and video platforms. In 2020 he released Todo Va a Esta Bien, whose love songs and regional ballads contrasted with the narcocorrido “Have Falta Alfredo,” which recounts the trajectory of the Beltrán-Leyva Cartel through the voice of “Emilio Garra.” That June, Caro contributed guitar and backing vocals to Martin Castillo’s single “Pocos Amigos.”
