Fuerza Regida formed as a Mexican regional quartet whose members hail from Sinaloa yet operate out of California. With labelmates Legado 7 on Rancho Humilde, the group originated the “requinto urbano” approach, in which rural acoustic instrumentation carries lyrics steeped in urban grit. Their material centers on the hardships, joys, and sufferings experienced by urban Latinos. The quartet’s first full-length, En Vivo Puros Corridos, arrived in 2018. Pisteando con la Regida appeared the following year across two separate EPs, after which Del Barrio Hasta Aquí reached stores in November. Four projects surfaced in 2020, among them the conceptual Adicto alongside Otro Pedo, Otro Mundo and the nineteen-song Pisteando con La Regida, Vol. 3. On the final day of 2021 the band caught listeners off guard with the charting Del Barrio Hasta Aqui, Vol. 2; exactly twelve months later they dropped two thirteen-track albums, Sigan Hablando and Pa Que Hablen. The eighth long-player, Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada, surfaced in 2023. February 2024 brought the six-song romantic EP Dolido Pero No Arrepentido, while July delivered PERO NO TE ENAMORES, an album that merged EDM textures with música mexicana.

Frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz steers the quartet’s blend of melodic hooks and rap-inflected verses over spiky requinto guitar figures and funky rhythms. The musicians cultivated an equally distinctive public profile through an elaborate YouTube-centered social-media campaign that predated their first live performances together. Paz, lead guitarist and co-vocalist Samuel Jaimez, rhythm guitarist and harmony vocalist Khrystian Ramos, and tuba player José assembled the lineup in 2017. Ortiz’s baritone shifts between declamatory force and intimate vulnerability while recounting credible stories of city life. The group began uploading clips almost at once, amassing millions of views prior to any commercial release; by year’s end they had joined Rancho Humilde, then the leading label for the requinto urbano sound.

En Vivo Puros Corridos reached stores in January 2018 and was quickly followed by video and digital singles such as “Radicamos en South Central” and “Ya Se Fue Manuel,” which together accumulated one hundred million streams. Southern California and northern Mexico tours showcased the quartet’s energetic outlaw persona, tight execution, and youthful appeal, generating extensive radio, television, Instagram, and Twitter exposure. November’s “Sigo Chambeando” clip, featuring musicians from Legado 7, surpassed one hundred million views on its own.

Video and streaming output continued unabated into 2019. Spring brought the six-song Las Romanticas Favoritas and the seven-track Pisteando con la Regida EP. Rancho Humilde issued the sophomore album Del Barrio Hasta Aqui in July; it opened at number one on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums chart and reached number eight on the Top Latin Albums tally.

Although tracked in 2019, Pisteando con la Regida, Vol. 2 emerged in January 2020, followed in April by the third long-player Adicto, which included guest appearances by Grupo Codiciado, Natanael Cano, and Herencia de Patrones. That set again topped the Regional Mexican Albums chart and entered Top Latin Albums at number four. September’s ten-song Otro Pedo, Otro Mundo preceded the holiday EP Feliz con Fuerza Regida and the nineteen-track Pisteando con la Regida, Vol. 3 in December; every project was recorded under COVID-19 quarantine conditions.

After a year without concerts, Fuerza Regida resumed touring at every opportunity in 2021. February’s single “No Esa Pa Presumir” preceded a featured role on Adriel Favela’s hit “Al Millon” in March and the band’s own “Que Esta Pasando” with Calle 24. August introduced “Lo Vieron Pasar (09),” October the ballad “Descansando,” and November the revue-style “Los Mire con Talento” alongside Calle 24 and Luis R. Conriquez. New Year’s Eve brought the surprise release Del Barrio Hasta Aqui, Vol. 2, which debuted at number three on the Regional Mexican Albums chart and climbed to number two early in 2022.

March 2022’s “No Le Aflojo” with Los Gemelos de Sinaloa was followed by six additional singles before July 1; both “La Bicicleta” and “Chingas Tu Madre” charted, as did the co-billed “La Despedida” with Aldo Trujillo and “Mi Porvenir” with Victor Cibrian. June saw Del Barrio Hasta Aqui, Vol. 2 enter the Top Latin Albums chart at number fourteen.

By October the band had prepared twenty-six new compositions—too many for one album—so management recommended splitting the material. On 30 December the musicians again surprised listeners and the industry by issuing Pa Que Hablen and Sigan Hablando simultaneously on Street Mob/Rancho Humilde through Sony Music Latin; both collaboration-heavy sets debuted on the Top Latin Albums chart at numbers five and six. 2023 yielded the Billboard-charting “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera and “Pariente” with Myke Towers, plus the studio album Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada.

February 2024 brought Dolido Pero No Arrepentido, a six-song EP of romantic música mexicana ballads that peaked at number three on the Regional Mexican Albums chart and number seven on Top Latin Albums. July introduced the fifteen-track PERO NO TE ENAMORES. Seeking to avoid repeating the sound of the previous full-length, the band organized a writing and production camp. Building on the success of their 2023 Marshmello collaboration “Harley Quinn,” they enlisted dance-music figures including Afrojack, Major Lazer, Maluma, and Bellakath. Across the set they fused Latin trap, neo-electro, drill, and Jersey club elements with their signature requinto urbano foundation, thereby broadening the reach of música mexicana. The album debuted at number two on Top Latin Albums and number twenty-three on the Billboard 200; its single “Nel” entered the Hot 100.
