Originating from California, Marca MP operates as a Regional Mexican ensemble incorporating banda, mariachi, and ranchera elements. Their first single, the 2019 track “El Guerro” recorded with Grupo Firme, registered as Mexico’s most-viewed online video that year. The quartet subsequently self-released five digital-only live albums, the studio EP Flores, and the studio album No Me Quejo. Brindo appeared in 2022, and the 19-track Aunque Digan followed in 2023. Continuing their yearly album schedule, the group delivered Lealtad in early 2024.

Four high-school friends formed Marca MP in 2018: lead vocalist Pedro Vargas (aka “El Chato”), tuba player Esteban Salcedo, and guitarists Cristian Daniel and Jesús Tizoc. They performed at private parties, street events, invitation-only concerts, and weddings across southern California while also opening regional dates for acts appearing in northern Mexico. Their debut EP, En Vivo, surfaced in 2019 and contained “El Guero.” After sharing bills with the band, Mexico’s Grupo Firme produced a video single of the song and asked Marca MP to participate; the clip became the country’s most-watched online video that year. Marca MP continued documenting concerts, releasing the live digital albums Despegando El Vuelo and En Vivo Desde el Maelcon: Sold Out in 2019.

In early May 2020 the group independently issued its studio album No Me Quejo, followed a week later by the live set Las Preferidas, Vol. 2 (En Vivo). July brought the studio-recorded Flores EP, which gained critical praise, charted on multiple streaming platforms, and marked the final recordings with Daniel and Tizoc. Guitarists Diógenes Bojórquez and Julio Torres joined in early August, the same month Las Preferidas, Vol. 3 (En Vivo) appeared. November saw the live release Desde el Cantón, and Las Preferidas, Vol. 4 (En Vivo) closed the year on New Year’s Eve.

Las Preferidas Vol. 5 (En Vivo) arrived in November 2021 as the band completed work on 2022’s Brindo. They toured both the new studio album and earlier hits throughout the United States and Latin America. That April the collaborative single and video “Ya Acabo” with Becky G was released and reached number 14 on the Mexican Regional Airplay chart. After two extended tours, the quartet recorded Aunque Digan during a break from the road. Issued in July 2023, the 19-song album featured guest appearances by Tony Aguire (“R1”), Los Dareyes de la Sierra (“El Jefe Daniel”), and Julian Mercado (“El 2020”); Vargas wrote and produced the project. By February 2024 the prolific group returned with its next album, Lealtad.
