Oscar Maydon participates in Mexico's alternative corrido scene, where his warm, matter-of-fact tenor combines with a singular fusion of pop melodies, Latin folk, and traditional Mexican music. His first single, "De la Nació," appeared in 2020 on G24 Records, after which he began working with fellow corrido artists such as Natanael Cano and Legado 7. Following the 2022 arrival of his debut album, GXLE <3, Maydon entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in January 2023 via the Junior H collaboration "Fin de Semana," launching a twelve-month span that produced twenty-six singles, among them "Antidoto" featuring Fuerza Regida and "John Wick" featuring Herencia De Grandes. Four additional tracks surfaced in December, including "Kim Kardashian" with Tyga and "Mexican Flan" with Codiciado, and Distorsión, his second long-player, followed two days later. In 2024 he achieved a major crossover success with Fuerza Regida on "Tu Boda" before joining Steve Aoki for "Corridos y Alcohol."

Born Oscar Rene Maydon Meza in Baja California, Mexico, at the close of the 1990s, he began recording in July 2020 with the G24 Records single "De la Nació." Jimmy Humilde noticed the track and recruited him for Rancho Humilde alongside artists like Natanael Cano. Maydon's first release on that label came in early 2021 with the Legado 7 collaboration "En el Espacio." A duet with Cano, "La Noche Empieza," arrived in April, and before year's end he also recorded "Finta de Fresa" with Polo Gonzalez. GXLE <3, his initial full-length project, emerged in early 2022 and featured "Finta de Fresa" plus solo cuts and partnerships with El Chachito, Joel Nuñez, and Ivan Orozco. Later that year further joint tracks appeared, such as "El Buda" with Calle 24 and "Hoy" with Manuel Rodriguez. "Fin de Semana," the Junior H duet, debuted at number 86 on the U.S. Hot 100 in February 2023. That same year he issued more than two dozen additional singles, among them "Skin de Bandida" with Junior H and Gabito Ballesteros, "Cuerno Mio" with Junior H, and "F*ck" with Los Gemelos de Sinaloa. In December 2023 he previewed four songs on streaming platforms—"Tipo Gatsby" featuring Natanael Cano and Gabito Ballesteros, "Kim Kardashian" featuring Tyga, "Mexican Flan" featuring Codiciado, and "Elvira" featuring Gabito Ballesteros and Chino Pacas—before releasing the seventeen-track Distorsión two days afterward. Apart from those listed collaborations, Maydon performed every other song on the album alone and co-produced it with Rancho Humilde founder Jimmy Humilde. Several major 2024 collaborations followed, including the Mexican number-one hits "Volver al Futuro" with Junior H and "Madonna" with Natanael Cano, plus "Tu Boda" with Fuerza Regida, which reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also issued "Corridos y Alcohol" alongside EDM artist Steve Aoki.
