Los Angeles-based vocalist, composer, and six-string player Junior H ranks among the originators of the corrido tumbado sound, also called trap corrido. His signature approach leans heavily on requinto lines, a reedy baritone delivery, and classic corrido elements including tuba and percussion. While still attending high school, he independently dropped the video single “No Eh Cambiado,” which spread rapidly online; shortly afterward he joined Rancho Humilde, the imprint that issued his first EP, Atrapado en un Sueño, followed by two full-length projects in 2020. The tireless performer returned in 2021 with the blockbuster $ad Boyz 4 Life. During 2022 he unveiled Mi Vida en un Cigarro 2, which opened at the summit of the Mexican Regional chart, and closed the year with Contingente. In 2023 a string of successful singles appeared alongside the high-charting set $AD BOYZ 4 LIFE II.

Antonio Herrera Perez entered the world in Guanajuato, located in central Mexico, in 2001. Music captivated him from childhood onward; traditional styles and hip-hop filled the household radio. At age 12 he and a companion started composing lyrics, since neither had instrumental skills, yet he frequented neighborhood studios and absorbed recording techniques. Three years later, once his family relocated to Utah, the 15-year-old had to rebuild his musical foundation from the ground up. He mastered guitar through YouTube tutorials, an absence of formal lessons that ultimately helped forge his singular technique.

He began uploading self-produced clips to YouTube and, at 17, recorded the demo album Mi Vida en un Cigarro on his own. One track, “No Eh Cambiado,” exploded in popularity thanks to its distinctive, unpolished texture, accumulating two million views within seven days and twelve million inside twelve months. Jimmy Humilde, head of Rancho Humilde Records, noticed the clip and added Junior to the roster, which already featured fellow urban-corrido artists Natanael Cano, Dan Sanchez, and Nueva Era. His initial label assignment came in 2019 when he appeared on Cano’s Corridos Tumbados album alongside his new labelmates; that project is widely viewed as the defining statement of the urban corrido movement. The audio-only uploads for “Disfruto Lo Malo” and “Ella,” the latter featuring Cano, eventually tallied 18 and 32 million views.

Impressed by the caliber of Junior’s material and the fervor of his performances, Rancho Humilde booked studio time for his debut. Instead of a conventional LP he delivered the seven-song, 27-minute Atrapado en un Sueño, whose closing track “Si Mañana” paired him once more with Cano. Themes of ambition, troubled relationships, street existence, and buoyant outlook resonated widely, sending the set to a number-five bow on the Hot Latin Albums chart. In its wake he issued the charting single “Mente Positiva” drawn from the project and the standalone “Psicodelica.” Two additional full-lengths, MUSICA <3 and Cruisin’ with Junior H, plus the collaborative Las 3 Torres with Cano and Ovi, completed a busy 2020. He maintained momentum the next year with $ad Boyz 4 Life, which climbed to number five and remained on the chart for most of the calendar. That December the singles “Nací Para Amarte” and “Empresa Fly Club” teased the next album.

Precisely twelve months afterward, in February 2022, he followed with the 21-track Mi Vida en un Cigarro 2. Produced by Humilde, the set featured guest appearances by Eslabón Armado on “Pa’ Que Te Duela,” Luis R Conriquez on “Los Botones Azules,” Junior Torres on “El Pelos,” and Compa Steve on “El Pana.” It entered the Mexican Regional Albums chart at number one, making Junior the second-youngest act, after Cano, to achieve that mark. In November he returned with Contingente, which included turns from Paloma Mami, Snow Tha Product, and OVI. Additional tracks surfaced throughout 2023, among them “El Patrocinador” with Grupo Firme and “El Azul” with Peso Pluma.

October 2023 brought $AD BOYZ 4 LIFE II, a 17-song sequel to the 2021 release. Perez wrote or co-wrote the majority of its material and served as co-producer alongside Jimmy Humilde and Ernesto Fernandez. One week after street date the album reached number two on the Top Latin Albums chart, then ascended to the top position the following week.
