Biography
Luis R. Conriquez hails from Sonora, Mexico, where he works as a songwriter, vocalist, and recording artist specializing in updated corridos and bandas. Between 2018 and 2023 he cut more than 250 tracks across ten albums and roughly a dozen singles while signed to Kartel Music. His first full-length, the 2018 studio set Mis Inicios, featured “Mi Apodo El 50” with banda guests Los Minis de Caborca along with the tracks “Mi Clave El Sobrino” and “Los Bullz de la Angelina.” A live album simply titled Corridos followed soon after.
Three further releases arrived in 2019: Pocos Pero Locos, Aquí Seguimos de Pie, and the pivotal Corridos, Vol. 2. The latter, cut in the studio, contained twenty original pieces that moved fluidly through the form while highlighting Conriquez’s knack for writing contemporary arrangements that spotlighted dueling lead guitars and fretless bass. On 2020’s No Paramos de Chambear he introduced polished studio techniques, evident in the crisp horn sections of “Andamos Tumbadones” and the distinctive guitar tunings that colored the blues-tinged “El 26.” That same year he issued the 35-track anthology Corridos 2019, mixing studio and live material, and unveiled the streaming blockbuster Corridos Bélicos, anchored by his breakthrough single “El Buho,” which climbed high on streaming charts while its video surpassed fifty million views.
A banda edition of Corridos Bélicos appeared in 2021, followed in September by the eighteen-song Corridos Bélicos, Vol. 2. In April 2022 Conriquez joined rapper Tony Aguirre for Corridones Belicones Duetos, then returned alone in November with Corridos Bélicos, Vol. 3. The ensuing year proved extraordinarily prolific: he issued or contributed to seventy-four singles, among them “Duro le Chingamos,” “Es Amor,” “La Tamalera,” and “Muchacha Guapa,” while also appearing on Peso Pluma’s “Su Casa,” Grupo Firme’s “Un Amor Como Este,” and Joel De La P’s “Dembow Bélico.” In January 2024 he delivered Corridos Bélicos, Vol. 4.
