Biography
Mauricio Rebolledo, who performs under the streamlined name Rebolledo, entered the dance-music sphere in the early 2000s by working as a DJ throughout his home country of Mexico, most notably in the resort destination Playa del Carmen. He soon began crafting original productions so that mixing between records during his sets could flow more seamlessly. After Kompakt’s Matias Aguayo performed at Rebolledo’s Santanera events, he urged the Mexican artist to pursue further studio work and subsequently invited him to join the fledgling Cómeme imprint. Three of the label’s five inaugural 2009 releases featured Rebolledo’s contributions, among them the darkly comic cuts “Pitaya Frenesi” and “Guerrero.” That year he also teamed with Aksel Schaufler—known as Superpitcher—to create a track under the Pachanga Boys alias for Kompakt’s Total 10 compilation. Activity slowed in 2010, limited to a joint 12-inch with Daniel Maloso and several remixes. In 2011 Rebolledo and Schaufler issued another Pachanga Boys 12-inch, while Super Vato, Rebolledo’s debut album, arrived later in the same year.
