Biography
Souther established himself early as a skilled session keyboardist working out of Los Angeles, securing studio assignments while still a teenager and eventually appearing on recordings by Barry McGuire, Debby Boone, the Mothers of Invention, and Phil Keaggy. A life-threatening episode of food poisoning in 1980 interrupted his professional path for several years. After regaining his health, he turned his energies toward building a solo identity centered on introspective material that included his Christian outlook. Robust, optimistic melodies define his style, yet the Narada releases also draw on his pop experience, childhood classical studies, appreciation for contemporary jazz, and growing curiosity about ethnic traditions.
