Robyn Sherwell

Soulful singer-songwriter Robyn Sherwell launched her recording path through an island-to-island relocation. Raised on the small channel island of Guernsey, she relocated to the U.K. for a History and Politics degree at Warwick University before shifting to London to chase her musical ambitions. Drawing on her choral experience, the multi-instrumentalist drew label interest through YouTube cover uploads and inked a deal with Birdland Records in 2013. Her introspective songwriting, athletic vocal phrasing, and intense performance style recalled the scale of peers Jessie Ware and Florence Welch, while her overall sound echoed the atmosphere of Birdy and Bat for Lashes. In 2014 she completed the debut EP Love Somebody and appeared on the track “Like a Shadow” alongside the dance duo Toyboy & Robin. She later worked in the studio with producer David Kosten, known for Bat for Lashes and Everything Everything, to shape her first album. The self-titled debut arrived in March 2016 and included the uplifting tribal cut “Islander,” a tribute to her Guernsey origins.
