A brightly soulful vocalist whose work blends pop, reggae, and R&B, Sade Serena first drew widespread listener attention through her 2014 hit single "Renegade." Two years later she issued her debut EP, Jerk Sauce.

Serena entered the world in 1988 and was raised in Miami as the child of Jamaican immigrants. At twelve she started singing and entered her school’s choral program, taking part in concerts along with state and regional competitions. By seventeen she had shifted into pop and R&B material, appearing at the House of Blues and additional Miami stages while citing Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, and similar artists as influences. After signing with Def Jam she delivered her first single, the 2013 track "Tonight," which reached number four on the Billboard Hot Singles chart. The next year she achieved wider recognition via the Top 40 song "Renegade." That same 2016 EP, Jerk Sauce, contained the single "Dum" featuring Shaggy; further releases followed with "Stray" and "Daylight." In 2019 she returned with the independent single "Crave Me."
