Biography
Born Luise Gruber on June 27, 1982, in Wels, Austria, blues-rock singer/songwriter Saint Lu spent time in America after completing her education before returning home. In Austria she studied at drama school and entered the ORF talent contest Starmania, where she was eliminated in an early round. Credited simply as Luise, she put out her first single, "One Step Closer," in 2005, while her proper debut album under the Saint Lu name appeared in 2009. Partially tracked at Abbey Road Studios and helmed by producer Patrik Majer (Wir Sind Helden, Tele), the album reached number 30 on the Austrian charts and included the tracks "Don't Miss Your Own Life," "Here I Stand," and "Rockstar Car." Her next release, the unimaginatively titled 2, arrived in 2013 and marked a turn toward a more soul-oriented sound.
