Salaryman

Emerging as a bridge between indie rock and the developing post-rock movement toward the close of the 1990s, Salaryman coalesced around four former Poster Children members—Rick Valentin, Jim Valentin, Rose Marschack, and drummer Howie Kantoff. Anchored in Champaign, Illinois, a prominent Midwestern college town, the band initiated album sessions in 1996. Once issued on the group’s own 12Inch Records imprint, the recording gained a European edition through City Slang. Salaryman subsequently joined Tortoise and Mouse on Mars for continental dates before issuing the remix EP Voids+Superclusters.
