Biography
Los Angeles-based rapper and singer Samara Cyn moves fluidly among hip-hop, R&B, and pop, pairing thoughtful, encouraging lyrics with warm, hazy beats. Once she had cultivated an online audience through freestyles and original material, she issued her debut full-length album, The Drive Home, in 2024.
Tennessee native Samara Cyn relocated repeatedly across the United States during her childhood. Drawn to spoken word poetry, she began writing to voice private emotions and address social concerns. While attending university she turned to songwriting, making her live debut in November 2019. As a student at Arizona State University she became a fixture at Phoenix open mikes and, in 2021, opened for Teddy Swims. Her first solo single, "pride's interlude," surfaced in early 2023 and quickly accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams. Further singles such as "Auto-Pilot" and "Wake Up" followed, along with additional freestyles. Greater notice arrived with the 2024 release "Magnolia Rain," which she quickly succeeded with the dance-pop track "Katana." Her first album, The Drive Home, appeared that October.
