Biography
Scattered Trees, an indie rock outfit, craft yearning and heartfelt sounds that revolve around Nate Eiesland in his roles as lead singer and songwriter. The band first came together in 2003 once Eiesland relocated from Minnesota to Illinois, where he produced one song each month; those efforts led to the 2004 debut album Hollohills. Eiesland later expanded the lineup by recruiting bassist Ryne Estwing and guitarist Justin Eisenbraun before turning to fresh material. Following the passing of his grandfather, the group issued its sophomore effort, Song for My Grandfather, in 2006. The original trio expanded once more through the arrival of drummer Baron Harper and Eiesland’s spouse, keyboardist Alissa Eiesland. By 2011 the resulting quintet delivered its third studio album, Sympathy, which included the singles “A Conversation About Death on New Year’s Eve” and “Love and Leave”; for the latter tracks the members filmed a video while dressed in Star Wars stormtrooper uniforms.
