GIVERS

Emerging from Lafayette, Louisiana during the closing years of the 2000s, indie rock outfit GIVERS took shape around the combined skills of Kirby Campbell on drums, samples, and vocals, Taylor Guarisco handling guitar and vocals, Tif Lamson covering vocals, percussion, and ukulele, Josh Leblanc on bass, and William Henderson supplying synths, samples, and vocals. Drawing deeply from the heritage and customs of their home state, the ensemble’s self-described “Afro-beat, dancey pants, indie pop love music” leans on the lively vocal exchanges between Lamson and Guarisco and has drawn parallels to Vampire Weekend, Dirty Projectors, and Mates of State. Their self-titled debut EP surfaced in 2009 via Valcour Records. Following Henderson’s departure and replacement by Nick Stephan in 2011, the group issued its first full-length album, In Light, through Glassnote. The New Kingdom LP arrived in 2015, retaining vivid hues yet shifting toward a weightier mood. April 2018 brought the single “Collide.”
