Embracing the label "Munich bass" for their output, the German duo Schlachthofbronx—meaning Bronx slaughterhouse—produces club tracks shaped by kuduro, dancehall, electro-house, Baltimore club, brass bands, baile funk, and nearly every other high-energy musical style. Three DJs launched the project in 2008: Bene (Graf von Stierenfroed), Jakob (DJ-King Augenring), and Christoph (Bass-King T). Their self-titled debut appeared on Disko B in 2009, where its lively blend of contrasting styles drew widespread critical praise. Worldwide touring followed, though the lineup contracted to a duo after Christoph exited in 2010. That year also brought the Ayoba EP on the baile funk label Man Recordings, along with support dates for M.I.A. across Europe. Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint then released Nasty Bass and Chambacu Remixes in 2011, the same period that yielded Carimbo on Man Recordings and Mudders on Mixpak.

A return to Disko B delivered the second album, Dirty Dancing, in 2012, with appearances by dancehall MCs Warrior Queen and Natalie Storm plus Detroit ghettotech pioneer DJ Assault. Rave & Romance arrived in 2014 and incorporated the Brazilian group Bonde do Rolê, the late New Orleans bounce rapper Nicky Da B, and Warrior Queen once more. The duo subsequently founded their own label, also titled Rave & Romance, which issued a run of Haul & Pull Up EPs before the matching full-length surfaced in 2017. Moving between slower, dubbier cuts and quicker footwork-driven pieces, the album included contributions from Gonjasufi, Otto Von Schirach, and Riko Dan.
