Biography
Based in Austin, Texas, Sister 7 included vocalist Patrice Pike, guitarist Wayne Sutton, bassist Darrell Phillips, and drummer Sean Phillips, who shared no family tie with his bandmate. The lineup coalesced after an unplanned 1991 jam session and first performed under the name Little Sister. Their introduction on the SBK/EMI roster arrived in 1994 through the live EP Free Love and Nickel Beer, which highlighted a mix of hard rock, funk, and hip-hop. The same year brought an appearance on the H.O.R.D.E. tour plus the independently funded album Little Sister/Sister 7, issued by Rhythmic Records. Once the group moved to the Arista Austin imprint, Sister 7 returned in 1997 with This the Trip, and Wrestling Over Tiny Matters appeared in spring 2000.
