So Solid Crew

MC Megaman and MC Romeo launched the collective by staging multiple British garage club nights along with additional events. Branded So Solid for those promotions, the gatherings steadily drew larger crowds. The ensemble itself took shape in 1998 after members convened at Killer Watt Carnival Soundsystem. Their debut single, "Oh No," appeared in December 2000 and registered on the British charts. August 2001 brought a number-one placement on the singles chart with "21 Seconds." Recognition followed in the form of a MOBO Award for Best British Act and a Brit Award for Best Video. Controversy nonetheless enveloped the band. Two men were shot during an October 2001 London concert by the group. Resulting publicity prompted the cancellation of their British tour. Relentless Records put out the debut album They Don't Know in November 2001.
