SpaceGhostPurrp surfaced in 2010 by bridging the underground aesthetic associated with Odd Future and the shadowy early output of Three 6 Mafia. A rapper and producer raised in Miami’s Carol City neighborhood, he first built a following through his unsettling strain of hardcore rap, uploading scattered tracks online. His well-received 2011 mixtape Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6 included appearances by Main Attrakionz. The 2012 commercial debut The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, released on the established independent imprint 4AD, contained collaborations with Smoke DZA and ASAP Rocky.
