Stubborn Heart

Although frequently tagged as post-dubstep or downtempo, the London, England duo Stubborn Heart—Luca Santucci and Ben Fitzgerald—call their sound electronic soul. Santucci already maintained an extensive catalog of solo and collaborative releases by the time the pair joined forces in 2010, having cut tracks for the Cooltempo label in the early '90s and guesting on albums by As One (1997's Planetary Folklore, featuring an incredible turn on "Away from All of This"), Leila, Herbert, Playgroup, and Edwyn Collins. The duo's first release as Stubborn Heart arrived in 2011 with the white-label 12" "Need Someone." One Little Indian signed them the following year, leading to the issue of their self-titled album, which received support from BBC 6 Music DJ Gilles Peterson. American listeners encountered Stubborn Heart's eponymous debut in 2013.
