Biography
Lithuanian DJ and producer Marijus Adomaitis first rose to prominence recording deep and progressive house under the name Mario Basanov. Early singles such as "I'll Be Gone" and "Who's Shot the Silence?" emerged from partnerships with fellow Lithuanian Vidmantas Cepkauskas, who records as Vidis. His 2009 solo debut EP Après 4 arrived with an '80s-synth flavor and featured the hit "Do You Remember," while subsequent releases in the same vein included "Caribbean Girl," "Closer," and "We Are Child of Love." At the 2011 Lithuanian Music Awards he took home Producer of the Year, and in 2012 he issued both the solo album Journey and the collaborative album Changed with Vidis.
Seeking a fresh direction in 2013, the classically trained musician—who had attended music school and performed on bassoon—set out to blend classical elements into his electronic productions. After refining a synthesizer tone modeled on the bassoon, he introduced the Ten Walls project, which prioritized musical theory and physical vinyl releases. His identity remained concealed for nearly a year until an online revelation. The EPs Gotham and Requiem, released under this alias, stood apart from his Basanov output by being entirely instrumental, adopting a tougher and more technoid character, and weaving in classical orchestration to create expansive sonic narratives; club audiences embraced both records warmly. Issued first on his own Boso imprint, the 2014 single "Walking with Elephants" was later licensed for wider digital release by Atlantic, whose lavish video treatment dramatically boosted its visibility and drove it to number six on the U.K. singles chart.
