Matt Gardner has earned widespread praise for the hazy, blissful deep house productions he issues as Terekke. As a central figure in Ron Morelli’s respected L.I.E.S. (Long Island Electrical Systems) roster, he has supplied some of the label’s strongest material through his infrequent appearances. His first outing arrived in 2011 with the single “Damn,” among the earliest releases on the imprint. The 2013 follow-up YYYYYYYYYY carried greater weight, propelled by the murky, moody cut “Amaze,” which emerged as a staple in underground clubs. In 2014 an untitled EP joined L.I.E.S.’ “black label” series, while another EP appeared under the name X on Rush Hour’s No ‘Label’ imprint. A digital-only ambient EP surfaced the next year, alongside Gardner’s remixes for Lohhof, Peggy Gou, and Bridge & Tunnel Kids. Terekke’s first album, Plant Age, came out on L.I.E.S. in 2017 and was succeeded by the ambient full-length Improvisational Loops on Music from Memory.
