Biography
Detroit-raised R&B vocalist and composer Terry Dexter began her performing life early, entering the vocal trio Tristar at nine and remaining with the group until fourteen. While still in high school she picked up scattered studio sessions, among them backing vocals for Simply Red. Following graduation she spent one year at the University of Michigan before a deal with University Music Entertainment ended her studies; the company issued her first album, Terry Dexter, on Warner Bros. in 1999. Lead single “Better Than Me” registered on the R&B charts.
