The Alternate Routes

Tim Warren and Eric Donnelly, a pair of guitarists who first crossed paths as students at Fairfield University in Bridgeport, Connecticut, form the singing and songwriting core of The Alternate Routes. Although the group took shape officially in 2002, the two often appeared simply as a duo in smaller clubs while expanding to a full band for larger venues and studio sessions. Their debut album, Good and Reckless and True, was tracked in 2005 with producer Jay Joyce in Nashville, which secured a deal with Vanguard Records the following year. Vanguard reissued Good and Reckless and True in 2007, the same year the duo independently issued the limited-edition acoustic set The Brooklawn Sessions. Joyce again produced the second Vanguard album, Sucker's Dream, which arrived in 2009 alongside the band-released five-song EP The Watershed, produced by Peter Katis. After leaving Vanguard in 2010, the Alternate Routes returned to Nashville to record Lately with Teddy Morgan, releasing it in 2011. The striking single "Nothing More" came out at the close of 2013 and was featured during the opening ceremonies for the 2014 Winter Olympics on NBC.
