Biography
The Cinematics originated in 2003 after their members first crossed paths in Dingwall and then settled in Glasgow, Scotland, at a moment when several dour post-punk revival groups had already found an audience. Drawing from the Cure and Echo & the Bunnymen, the quartet consists of guitarist Ramsay Miller, bassist Adam Goemans, drummer Ross Bonney, and vocalist/guitarist Scott Rinning. During 2005 the band toured the U.K. in the company of Ambulance LTD, the Editors, and Brendan Benson while also entering into a recording agreement with TVT Records. Their debut single, “Chase,” appeared in September 2006 under the production of Stephen Hague (Blur, New Order). The full-length album A Strange Education followed the next year.
